Why did you decide to become a performer?
When I was 7 I saw my first big stage musical, ‘West Side Story’ at the Palace Theatre in Manchester. It was such a wonderful performance and I was moved to tears, which really surprised me. I never realised a play / musical could have such an effect on me. I remember wishing that I could move people through performance, and from that point to this I have been striving to achieve that goal.

People who’ve inspired you:
Funnily enough all the people who told me I couldn’t do it.

Aspirations:
There are so many things that I want to achieve in my career. I have a huge passion for music, especially musical theatre and it has always been my dream to one day appear in a leading role in the West End. I love Shakespeare and after having a small taste of performing on the Globe Theatre, back in April 2007, I am desperate to get back there and do a whole season. I have always been interested in new writing and would like to work in a theatre like the Royal Court, exploring new work with up and coming writers. Film is another big passion of mine, and every film I do my performances get better and better. Overall, it doesn’t matter what medium I’m working in, I just want to communicate stories to people, stories that mean something, that get the audience thinking.

Favourite Projects:
‘Tomb Raider Ascension’
- Playing Lara Croft was a dream come true. I admire strong women and I really enjoyed playing the Tomb Raider games as a young girl. Plus the
Atmosphere on set was fantastic and the cast and crew were all wonderful to
Work with.

‘Hello Again’ - This was my first Musical, the part I had was difficult vocally and the content
was out of my comfort zone. For all those reasons this show was a real challenge for
me and a challenge that I met head on. I love breaking down barriers.

‘Marat/Sade’ - Anyone who’s familiar with this play will know its quite heavy going and dramatic. This was my first stab at a deep, emotional , gritty character and a personal triumph, as it was here that I learnt to fully release (emotionally) on stage.

Favourite pastimes:
Socialising, Dancing, Singing, Playing Sports, Walking, Eating (I have a very sweet tooth), Trying New Things, Travelling, Watching Films and Going to the Theatre.

Unusual facts:
I have 6 brothers and 1 sister.
I am a Pescetarian, which means the only meat I eat is fish.
I attended 3 different secondary schools and have moved house 35 times.
My birth name is Mawdsley
I have 2 Chinchillas, Vic and Bob
I have a complete Disney Classic’s DVD collection
